The vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Executive Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa has condemned the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, for his recent church visits.

He slammed Peter for visiting churches and religious places constantly, saying he’s using the church population to play politics and therefore demanded that the church resist this pattern.

Okowa while speaking to journalists in Kano State on Wednesday, said the church should not be dragged into partisan politics.

“Now you begin to look at what is going on; the Peter Obi factor is as if he is trying to go through the church and make it look as if he is driving the Christians into politics. I do not believe that the church should actively go into politics because that is not their calling.

“But people are just hanging to anything they can reach out to even to the detriment of their fate. I don’t believe that’s the right path to go,” he said.

Obi was recently at Redemption City for the first time recently to attend the 70th Annual Convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

“We welcome to the Redemption Camp for the first time Mr. Peter Obi,” said the announcer, and this was followed by loud applause from the congregation.

The former Anambra Governor was also at the Glory Dome, Abuja, where he was given an ovation.

In the past months, Peter Obi has visited many churches and religious leaders in his own way of involving every corner in his wife consultations.
