#AnambraDecides2021: Soludo Yet To Vote As Accreditation Machine Fails To Function

The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in the governorship election going today, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo is yet to cast his ballot as the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) deployed to his Polling Unit/Ward, PU 002, Ward 13, Isuofia, Aguata LGA, is not working.

The BVAS is a system that combines fingerprint and face biometrics for identity verification of voters.

It’s an integrated device that is multi-functional in nature, which serves as Voter Enrolment Device (IVED) during voter registration, voter accreditation on Election Day and also functions as INEC Results Viewing Device (IReV Device) to be used for election results upload on Election Day.

Voting is yet to commence at the polling boot the former Central Bank Governor is expected to vote and reports say that over 200 persons are stranded.

The story isn’t different in some other places voting is yet to commence.

At Ward 5, Umuogbu village in Awka South Local government area of the state, the electoral process has experienced some hitches as some accredited voters found it difficult to vote because the BVAS machines are malfunctioning.

The INEC ad-hoc staff at the polling units said the devices seem sensitive to light and have failed to capture those who have come out to vote.
