In a groundbreaking move, the Akwa Ibom State Government has joined hands with the Lagos State-based Enterprise Development Centre, heralding a new era of empowerment for women entrepreneurs. A total of 10,000 women, aged between 18 and 35, have been carefully selected to benefit from this transformative partnership.

The momentous partnership agreement, officially titled the Ibom Leadership and Entrepreneurial Development (Ibom-LED) Programme, was solemnized at the Government House in Uyo, underscoring the gravity and significance of this collaborative endeavor.

According to a statement released by the Press Unit of the Government House, these selected women are poised to undergo comprehensive entrepreneurial training and capacity-building programs. Additionally, they will receive invaluable support services aimed at facilitating the establishment of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) upon the successful completion of their training.

Governor Pastor Umo Eno, who presided over the ceremony to sign the Memorandum of Understanding, lauded this partnership as a pivotal step towards nurturing entrepreneurship among women. He emphasized that this initiative is poised to be a catalyst for economic growth and gender inclusivity within the state.

This forward-looking program holds immense promise for the socio-economic landscape of Akwa Ibom. By equipping these women with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to establish and sustain their enterprises, it paves the way for a more inclusive and empowered business environment.

Furthermore, this initiative aligns with broader national and global efforts to advance gender equality and economic empowerment. It not only underscores the commitment of both the Akwa Ibom and Lagos State governments to fostering entrepreneurship but also exemplifies the potential of inter-state collaborations in driving positive socio-economic change.

As the program unfolds, it is anticipated that the impact will resonate far beyond the initial cohort of beneficiaries. By fostering a culture of entrepreneurship and equipping women with the tools they need to succeed, this partnership sets the stage for a brighter, more prosperous future for Akwa Ibom and its enterprising women.
