Enugu Stand Still As Youths And Students Mourn HRH Igwe Kenechukwu Sixtus Igboeli

The whole of Enugu State and beyond has once again united to show capacity as they commit to earth one of their loved Comrade, HRH Igwe Kenechukwu Igboeli, 24 who died in ghastly auto crash on 2nd May, 2023.

According to some youths and students, Kenechukwu Sixtus Igboeli meant different thing to different people and maintained a very cordial relationship with anybody who come his way, the young, the old, low and high profiled were all friends to Kene.

Recall that Igwe Ndoha as he was known, following his coronation as Igwe of Udi students world wide — was involved in a ghastly auto accident, along Enugu-Nsukka road.

Charity Reporters gathered that he and other passengers boarded a Sienna vehicle via Abakpa en-route Nsukka before another vehicle failed break and driver lost control, and then a head-on slightly after the Maduka University, Ekwegbe.

Our source also said that, KC was rushed to Bishop Shanahan Hospital, Nsukka where he was later confirmed dead by a medical Doctor.

Following the sad news, students and youths of Enugu State and beyond aligned and realigned to plan and give Kenechukwu a befitting burial and honor.

Enugu youths which subsequently formed a committee Chaired by Hon Felix Ijegalu with Comr. Humphrey Edeh as Secretary held a unity meeting at Dragon event Center to plan the burial, it was agreed that there will be a fund raiser, candle light procession in Enugu campus of UNN and in Nsukka.

17th May, 2023 marked the beginning of preparations for Final burial and last ofala of HRH Igwe Kenechukwu Sixtus Igboeli as students, youths and well wishers trooped out in their numbers and converged at UNEC gate, the procession started at UNEC gate through Mkpokiti-Onuasata-Stadium-Osisatech-Edinbugh-UNEC, the crowd also had a final stop at his UNEC hostel where his lodge mates prayed for repose of his soul.

Subsequently, the Students’ Union Government in collaboration with Udi students of UNN also had a candle light procession at St. Peters Chaplaincy, while wake took place at the Freedom square.

Kenechukwu Sixtus Igboeli was finally laid to rest in his father’s compound in Ukana, Udi local government area of Enugu State. The Nze na Ôzô also convened his last ofala as traditions demand.

Kene, until his death was a student of the University of Nigeria Nsukka, leader in different organization such as; National Association of University Students, National Council Of Enugu State Students, Ohaneze Students wing, Ohaneze youth wing, National Association of Udi Students, Udi Youth Council, Udi Youth Parliament, and many more.

BIOGRAPHY of KENECHUKWU SIXTUS-FRANCIS IGBOELI

Kenechukwu was born on 12th of March 1999. He attended his Nursery and Primary School at Living Academy Eha-Amufu and Command – Children school Awkunanaw respectively. He went to Sacred Heart Seminary Nsude on his desire to be a Roman Catholic Priest.

This was because of his love to live a life of Christ that is worth emulating. While in his Seminary days He never ceased to be a normal student but a student whose voice is heard. He served as the House Captain, water and class Prefect.

There, he impacted positively on the Students and School. He was one that is bold and courageous to counter any irregularities no matter who is involved.

In 2016, He graduated from Sacred Heart Nsude, He furthered his quest for impact knowledge. He was admitted into the Federal College of Education in 2017 and there he studied English and Political Science. That didn’t stay long because that same year, he got admission into the prestigious University of Nigeria Nsukka where he studied Arts Education.

In the University he was well known and admired by many in the University. He served diligently while in the University Under the Udi Students Association, He was made the Igwe Ndu-Oha 1 of the association, He composed the association’s Anthem, he hosted, organized his Ofala Festival.

He has Won and merited many Awards of excellence and Honor in his stay in the University Campus. He also honored a lot of dignitaries with titles and awards during his ofala.

Kenechukwu further got admission into the Faculty of Law at the University of Nigeria Enugu Campus (UNEC), where he studied Law, He was called to Bar on October 2021, after.

While studying law in the University he was also deeply involved in the growth and building of the Igbo culture. He was appointed Leader of the National Association of Udi students Enugu Wing.

There he performed radically and marvelously well.

He had organized many events and festivals while working as the leader of the association.

The Igbo Ekulie Festival which is still very much alive in the hearts of the people has been on of his achievements for the association.

Igwe Ndo Oha 1 (Santigi) Man of the people, a selfless and faithful Leader who is culturally inclined was an active member of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo Student Association, an Office he held till his glorious Transit to the great beyond.

Kenechukwu would never relent to Selflessly give his all to whoever comes calling, he had grieved and mourned with people in trying times and also in celebration with many in times of Joy.

He had celebrated his last birthday with the poor and homeless at the Holy Ghost arena. His last Easter was at the Seminary where he celebrated the Easter and Triduum with the Seminarians.

He was undeniably chaste and diligent, courageous and determined in all he does. He has invested so much on people and national building. He is one that believes that the best investment one should do is to invest in his fellow human, not withstanding ethnicity or background. He is one that has so little for himself but so much to give to others.

He witnessed his early demise in the morning of 2nd May, 2023 in a ghastly Motor Accident that collided together while on a journey to the University of Nigeria Nsukka to collect his School Files around Opi Junction Nsukka.

Kenechukwu was believed to be dead on the instant of the accident but while taken to the hospital, he started talking, though unconscious was given a second chance to pray, He continued Praying in the Hospital till his breath faded away.

He is a saint that have gone to be with the lord.
