ENUGU:CUPP Warns INEC Over Alleged Plot To Swap Polling Unit Results In Enugu State

In a keenly contested election, the Chairman of Coalition Of United Political Parties, CUPP in Enugu State, Festus Okafor, has alleged a purported plot to swap election results from polling units in Enugu State, he stated this in a statement issued on Saturday night.

According to him, there are credible reports that some agents of the ruling political party were trying to smuggle in fake result sheets.

He said, “We are raising this alarm because Enugu people will not accept anything different from the results we have from polling units.

“It is so sad that the same people who turned Enugu into a theatre of war are unrelenting in their plan to truncate the will of the people, but they won’t succeed.

“The CUPP calls on all lovers of democracy to rise up and defend the ballot. Everyone should head to the ward collation centres and then from there to the local government collation centre.

“On the part of INEC, they should save their little remaining reputation. Enugu people are not going to tolerate a repeat of what transpired during the Presidential and National Assembly elections where the people’s votes were suppressed.”

“We are putting the army, the NSCDC, other security agencies and the INEC on notice. We have uncovered this plot and it must not happen,” CUPP added.

Okafor urged Enugu people to keep hope alive as nobody can tinker with their will as freely expressed.

Charity Reporters observed that the collation of results from polling units was ongoing as voting had ended in the governorship and State House of Assembly elections held on Saturday.
