During the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Obaseki articulated a vision for a paradigm shift in Nigerian politics. He emphasized the imperative of redirecting focus towards genuine service, holistic development, and the well-being of the populace.
Governor Obaseki asserted, “I am here to tell you that I care about you, and it will not be business as usual. I will take care of you. Politics must change; politics is about the people, and politicians must genuinely care for their people. Enough is enough. We cannot say we are in politics and are poorer for it. Politics must help us to escape poverty.”
Further, Governor Obaseki assured that the newly appointed Special Assistants and Senior Special Assistants would not be mere figureheads. He pledged to closely monitor their activities, ensuring they actively contribute to the betterment of their respective communities. Governor Obaseki outlined his commitment to placing a Special Assistant or Senior Special Assistant in every ward, serving as his “eyes and ears” to provide insights on crucial aspects such as education, healthcare, security, and overall community well-being.
