Governor Umahi of Ebonyi Finally Choose A Successor To Continue His Developmental Strides In The State
The Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Sabinus Nwankwegu has described as a divine intervention the endorsement of the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru by the traditional rulers and other critical stakeholders from the Izhi Nation.
Chief Nwankwegu, a one time Deputy Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, who served in several ministries under the leadership of Governor David Umahi as a Commissioner and is currently the Permanent Member ‘I’ in the state Universal Basic Education Board, UBEB, stated this on Easter Sunday while interacting with journalists in Abakaliki.
He said the demonstration by the traditional rulers, and other stakeholders from Izhi Clan occupying Abakaliki, Ebonyi, Izzi and other local government areas in the state and its neighbours like Cross Rivers and the Benue States, was a welcome development.
He maintained Nwifuru’s endorsement to succeed Governor Umahi deserved no opposition, urging those rejecting the endorsement to stop.
He, however, urged Ebonyians especially those from the Izhi clan to continue to throw their weight around Speaker Nwifuru, believing Nwifuru’s victory as governor of Ebonyi State in 2023, would be commemorated in mega colour.
He described Nwifuru as a humble servant who is always ready to learn, stressing that his experiences in the political activities of the state alongside his benevolent spirit would earn him a resounding victory in the forthcoming 2023 gubernatorial election.
He also commended the developmental strides of Ebonyi State Governor, Engr David Umahi, saying his feats as the governor of the state would pave way for his victory to succeed President Muhammad Buhari in 2023.
He advised Ebonyians and other people of Nigeria to disregard the rumours making rounds that Governor Umahi allegedly had an interest to drop his 2023 presidential ambition for the Senate.
He noted rumours thrive much during the election period and insisted that “Governor Umahi is very prepared to succeed Buhari,” described him as “the man to beat as he has done this in 2015, 2019 and in 2023, it will be a divine mission all the ways.”
He added: “Governor Umahi with all he has done in the state will make sure that Ebonyi is for APC and APC is for Ebonyi,” maintaining that his successor comes 2023 remains Speaker Nwifuru, to consolidate the achievements of his administration.
“Those who are wise enough and of course might have heard from the God had endorsed Mr Speaker, and I don’t think nobody will thwart the words of elders,” Nwankwegu hinted.
He, therefore, congratulated Ebonyians and other citizens of the country on the Easter Celebration, advising them to commemorate the event with affection, sacrifice and forgiveness regardless of religion.
It was gathered that the people of Ezza Ezekunna Nation had recently endorsed the said Speaker Nwifuru as their consensus guber-candidate, with assorted backers from different parts of the state, for him to succeed Governor Umahi in 2023.
