Kanu’s Lawyer Condemns Demolition of Igbo Properties, Calls for Biafra Referendum

Kanu’s Lawyer Condemns Demolition…..

Aloy Ejimakor, the special counsel to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has criticized the Lagos State government led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and President Bola Tinubu for the reported demolition of properties belonging to Igbo residents in Lagos. Ejimakor deems the actions as cowardly and asserts that the Nigerian government is turning the country into an open-air prison for the Igbo people.

Reacting to ongoing reports of property demolitions, Ejimakor called for a more diplomatic solution. He stated that if there is a desire for the Igbo people to leave Lagos or Nigeria, a Biafra referendum should be conducted to determine their future as a sovereign nation. Ejimakor urged authorities to cease the demolition of properties, emphasizing that such actions are not the way to address the situation.

In a message posted on social media, he wrote, “If you want Igbos out of Lagos or Nigeria, stop demolishing their properties; that’s cowardly. Instead, do a referendum on Biafra and brace for the resounding result. Until then, stop turning Nigeria into an open-air prison for Igbos. From the pogrom to now, Igbos have had enough.”

Reports suggest that properties owned by Igbos, including markets and buildings, have been targeted for demolition by the Lagos State government. Among those affected is former Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike, who claims his house was demolished despite obtaining due approval.

Additionally, Kanu’s family has urged President Tinubu to comply with Court of Appeal judgments ordering the immediate and unconditional release of the detained IPOB leader. The family expressed concerns over Kanu’s health and accused the Department of State Services (DSS) of violating court orders by denying access to visitors, including his lawyers.
