Latest ASUU Update[today]: ASUU Debunks Reports On Strike Suspension

Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, ASUU national chairman has debunked reports been circulating publicly that lecturers have suspended their strike and were ready to return to classrooms across the country.

The ASUU chairman explained that the academic body was stillin the process of negotiating with the government and that it would be called off when all parties have reached tangible agreements.

In expectations to when agreements would be reached between all parties, he noted that the strike still continues and urged lecturers to remain resolute on their demands.

The ASUU chairman stressed that students as well as parents should disregard statements been diseminated on different social media platforms and wait for the official statement from the union.

He debunked the resumption claims exclusively to Charityreporters’s correspondent on Tuesday during a telephone interview on the strike update.

Meanwhile, branches of the academic union were reported to have commenced a two-day voting exercise to determine continuation of the ongoing strike by the lecturers across the country.

The two-day exercise would be taking place across the country on Tuesday and Wednesday, affording the lecturers choice to pick either to accept the Federal Government offers and or not.

The decision of the various branches, as gathered, would be transmitted to the National Executive Council of the union for final decision on their stance.

It was learnt that the branches were directed by the ASUU leadership to embark on the exercise after their meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, and other law makers at the green chamber.
