Maurice Emeka Akueme’s Gigantic Move For Widows in Enugu State, Commendable; Delivers New House to Widow in Enugu

~ By Aneke Sochi Cyracus

Mother Theresa, in her lifetime, would make us know that it isn’t really how much we give but how much love we put while giving. This love of course is reciprocal to both the giver and the receiver in most cases.

Chief Maurice Emeka Akueme indeed experienced such love in the beautiful village of Nenwenta, in Awgu Local Government, Enugu State, Nigeria where he went with his team to commission the latest project of his foundation, The Maurice Akueme Foundation (MAF).

The kind-hearted traditional ruler and his cabinet honored him with the chieftaincy title, ‘Oji Ûlô Eme Ôgô’; a title that came as a result of the two rooms and parlour bungalow the Maurice Akueme Foundation built for an almost homeless widow in Nenwenta.

In our society today, the widows are at our mercy, especially in a typical African background usually associated with traditional norms and practices which often leave them with nothing after the demise of their husbands.

Whoever has the opportunity to give to these women rendered unfortunate by the cold hands of death should kindly see it as a duty to do their best for them Akueme adviced. Today it was one woman, but there are so many out there looking for help, our help, to truly live again.
