In a bid to address the escalating crisis of substance abuse across the nation, the Nigerian Senate has passed a resolution urging the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency on the matter.

During plenary, members of the Senate deliberated on the pressing issue, recognizing the urgent need for comprehensive intervention measures. The motion, which gained unanimous support, emphasized the gravity of the situation and the detrimental impact of substance abuse on individuals, families, and communities.

The Senator who led the charge, highlighted alarming statistics and shared harrowing accounts of the devastating effects of substance abuse on Nigerian citizens. He stressed the importance of swift action to curb the growing crisis.

5. Facilitating Access to Treatment:Ensuring that individuals struggling with substance abuse have access to quality treatment, counseling, and support services.

The Senate’s call for a state of emergency reflects a collective commitment to addressing this pressing issue and underscores the importance of prioritizing the well-being and safety of all Nigerians.
