When women and girls are supported, they gain opportunities to speak up for their rights, and also to advocate for their communities. They are also able to rise in social standing, and they can feed this into future generations…

Empowerment is the practice of motivating yourself or others to accomplish important goals or objectives. It helps enable people to take initiative, make decisions for themselves and solve complex problems.

If a girl attains the knowledge, skills and ability to change her reality, and uses these tools to grow by making her own choices, gathering assets, and participating in decision-making processes, then a girl is empowered.

The Maurice Akueme Foundation has utilized the opportunity provided through gender equality to establish the girl-based organization under the tutelage of the mother foundation; MAF. Recall that on Friday, 15th day of march 2024, the Maurice Akueme Foundation visited the Community High School, Obioma in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, to empower the female students through 1-2-1 empowerment support, training, enterpreneurship/skill acquisition programs, hygiene, time management, leadership training, etc.

The principal of Community High School, Obioma, Mrs. Chioma Ozongwu commended the Maurice Akueme Foundation team for visiting her school and impacting on her students in character, learning and skill acquisition, she called on other individuals and organizations to emulate the Maurice Akueme Foundation to guarantee a better society where the girl child is empowered and prepared for the future.

“We believe that healthy, educated and empowered women and girls are agents of change. When women and girls are supported, they gain opportunities to speak up for their rights, and also to advocate for their communities. They are also able to rise in social standing, and they can feed this into future generations”.
