Breaking: The National Council of Enugu State Students Confers Governor Ugwuanyi Grand Patron

The apex body that caters for all indigenous students of Enugu State known as National Council of Enugu State Students(NACESS) was led by the President Comr. Onah Joseph Onyemaechi on a visit to the Executive Governor of Enugu State Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi at the Lion Building(Government House) Enugu.

Eulogizing Governor Ugwuanyi for his uncommon leadership prowess and the gigantic strides of his administration in every nook and cranny of Enugu State, Comrade Onah Joseph Onyemaechi described the governor as “a good man, a goal getter, God sent and a man with mighty but good heart”.

Furthermore they applauded the excellent performance of the governor at this moment of economic hardship.

Onah said “Your excellent strides are indeed speaking for you such as; initiating the payment of 13th month salary to workers which is only obtainable in Enugu state, the implementation of N30,000 minimum wage, all inclusive, grassroot, open and transparent government, youths, students and women friendly programmes and policies, massive infrastructural development both in urban and rural areas, peace and security, as well as viable economy amongst others.

Speaking further, the student group applauded the governor for operating an all inclusive government; “Your Excellency, it is only in your administration that religious leaders, traditional rulers, group and organization leaders are involved in policy making and implementation.

“You have prioritized federal and state security outfit in your bid to secure lives and property of the people of Enugu state.

“We thank you for your impact towards education; the awarding of scholarship to 680 indigent engineering students of Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu and Enugu state polytechnic Iwollo, scholarship awarded to 22 post-secondary school indigent students presently studying at Mewar University, India. They are all enviable feats.

“Your Excellency, no one can compete with you on human capital development.

“We have heard so much about your plans and activities. We have witnessed them and we pray earnestly that God will take you to the highest part of life and should as well grant you the strength and wisdom cum capacity to continue to ride on the horse through which you came”.

While eulogizing Governor Ugwuanyi over enviable strides, the council also registered its concerns for Enugu state.

Speaking on behalf of the council; the President pleaded with Governor Ugwuanyi to swipe into action to curtail the issue of water scarcity within the state especially within students environment. He solicited for a water scheme that will effect the distribution of water to various campuses within the state.

Making further appeals; the council urged Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to extend surveillance towards the operation of the staff of Ministry of Transport Enugu to ensure application of professionalism in discharging their duty.

The National Council of Enugu State Students conferred on Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi the Grand Patron of the council and decorated him with the council’s cap and muffler.

While presenting the certificate; the president stated that the step taken by the council has been facilitated by the NACESS constitution which declares the Governor the grand patron and former governors the great grand patron(s).

While ending his speech; the president thanked the Governor for his time, he also thanked His Royal Highness Igwe Emma Ugwu; Ezeokwe 1 of Ibagwa Kingdom and Chief Maurice Emeka Akueme(Njikokamma Enugu State) for always being there for the council.

The governor maintained that the unprecedented 95.54 percent votes cast for his reelection in 2019 was a referendum on the modest administration of his first four years in office.

Governor Ugwuanyi said the special attention his administration is paying to the rural areas is targeted to address neglect on the rural dwellers.

Thanking the students, he reiterated that the scholarship awarded to 680 engineering students of IMT Enugu, Enugu state polytechnic Iwollo and 22 post-secondary school indigent students studying at Mewar University India are all parts of his administration’s efforts to enhance education.

He advised the students to be law abiding, to always keep up with academic excellence, to be good ambassadors of the state and to always represent Enugu state positively.

Present during the meeting was the Deputy Governor of Enugu State Hon. Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo, top government functionaries, the council’s legal adviser; Barr Val Adukulu, the Council’s stakeholders, NEC, Sena tours and other members of the council.
