Thugs Attack Labour Party’s Meeting In Enugu

The incident which happened at Umuida, Enugu-Ezike, in the Igbo-Eze North local government area of Enugu state is the fourth time hoodlums would be attacking meetings called by Labour Party in the state.

Hoodlums believed to be political thugs have attacked a Labour Party’s ward meeting in Enugu State and burnt vehicles belonging to members of the party.

Eyewitnesses told Charity Reporters in Nsukka that the hoodlums attacked the ward meeting on Sunday at Umuida community.

“We were at the meeting when four guys on two bikes arrived at the venue and started shooting in the air.

“Everyone ran away, the ward chairman and others ran forgetting their car keys on the table. We noticed that the gunmen set some vehicles and motorcycles ablaze.

“They also drove away with a Camry which stopped after a while, due to security. The engine stopped and the two guys came down and set the car ablaze and left.”

Labour Party political meeting has been attacked in Aninri, Awgu, Oji River, and now at Igboeze North Local Government Areas all in Enugu State in the last two months.

The police have yet to confirm the incident as efforts to speak with the Command’s spokesman DSP Daniel Ndukwe were unsuccessful as he didn’t answer his calls.

The Labour Party has not issued a statement on the recent development, however, the party earlier vowed that no amount of intimidation would stop the party from the politics of the state and the country.

Peter Obi had also mandated a stop to the intimidation of members of the OBIdient Movement.
