Wike Disappointed As PDP Decides Okowa To Pair Atiku

~ PDP Picks Okowa as Atiku’s Running Mate.

The Presidential candidate of the major opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); Atiku Abubakar, would rather pick Ifeanyi Okowa, governor of Delta state, as his running mate.

The national working committee (NWC) of the PDP had on Wednesday endorsed Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers, as Atiku’s running mate.

The NWC members voted 16 against 3 to endorse the report of the stakeholders’ panel which had earlier nominated Wike for the VP ticket.

Okowa got only three votes while Wike garnered 16.

It is however gathered that, Atiku is not comfortable with the outcome considering that Wike does  it like his person and is as well too ambitious, seen as a “not would be loyal” kind of vice.

Again, considering the fact that Wike worked for Aminu Waziri Tambuwal in the 2019 presidential primary election, though Atiku still won the ticket.

Some bigwigs in the PDP are also said to be uncomfortable with Wike as Atiku’s running mate “because the VP is just a heartbeat away from being the president”.

Charity Reporters had reported that Wike was approved by the committee, a viral claim which was refuted by the national publicity Secretary of the PDP; Debo Olodunagba.

The NWC of the PDP has set up a committee to screen the vice-presidential candidate of the party for the 2023 elections. This committee has likely approved the current governor of Delta State; Ifeanyi Okowa to vice Atiku in 2023.

Political parties are expected to file in names of presidential candidates and their running mates latest Friday.
