Woman Beheaded in Kogi State, Suspect Arrested

In a gruesome incident that has shocked the community, a woman was beheaded on her farm in the village of Ogene Iga, located in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State. The tragic event took place on Sunday, sending shockwaves through the region.

The victim, whose identity is being withheld pending family notification, failed to return from her farm that fateful Sunday, prompting concerned residents to organize a search party. Their efforts took a grim turn when they discovered her lifeless body in an isolated section of her farm.

The scene was described as harrowing, as it was evident that the assailants had taken her head. The only means of identification were the wares she carried, marking a grim reminder of the brutality she endured.

Local resident Sylvester Adaji expressed the shock and horror felt by the community, stating, “We saw her corpse in an isolated place on her farm. To our surprise, her head was cut off and taken away by her assailants. We could only recognize her by her wares. It was a gory sight and a taboo on our land.”

The Kogi State Police Command swiftly responded to the incident. They apprehended a suspect identified as Sunday Ugbada of Ogoh Okpo, Olamaboro Local Government Area. An Itel phone belonging to the victim was recovered from the suspect.

SP William Aya, the Police Command’s spokesperson, confirmed the arrest and assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway. He stated, “Investigation is still on and the suspect will be charged to court as soon as questioning is concluded.”

The community remains in a state of shock and grief, grappling with the brutal loss of one of their own. As the investigation unfolds, residents hope for justice to be served for the victim and her grieving family.
