Two Persons Loses Life Over Land Dispute

Two persons have been killed as a result of a land dispute between the Kambaris and Fulanis in Salka, Magama Local Government Area of Niger State.

As stated by Dangwere Musa, who is a resident of Salka, the incident occurred on Tuesday, adding that the fight between the two groups paved way to the destruction of lives and property.

“The fight between the Kambaris and the Fulanis started because of a land that both groups are claiming belongs to them, and because of the fight, they have burnt down the police station and the house of the village head.”

“Even the Fulani people are not left out, as over 30 of their huts have also been burnt down as a result.”

He reported that the land dispute commenced when some Fulanis bought a piece of land in an area that the locals (Kambaris) did not feel comfortable with, thereby leading to the clash.

He further explained that the warring groups agreed to settle the dispute but ended up fighting in the process of mediation, which led to the deaths and destruction of property.

“This matter has been on since some Fulani people bought land and our people were not happy about it, so they decided to go and settle the matter.”

“In the process of settling the dispute, one of the Fulanis used his cutlass to injure one of the men on the other side, and then a fight started.”

Confirming the clash, the Secretary to the State Government, Ahmed Matane, expressed displeasure over the destruction of lives and properties’, adding that security had been deployed to the area to restore peace and stability.
