Armed Robbery Attacks Three Banks On The Itukpo Area Of Benue State
The assailants stormed the area while shooting sporadically to scare those around. They reportedly operated for about an hour in the affected banks.
The robbers were said to have also thrown money carted away from the banks in the air as they left in two Hilux vehicles and one car.
A yet-to-be-confirmed number of residents including personnel of the police force have been reported dead following an attack by armed robbery on three banks in the Itukpo area of Benue State on Friday.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the state’s Police Command, SP Catherine Anene confirmed the robbery incident but gave no further detail on the incident.
He said “after robbing the banks, they headed towards Makurdi but I can assure you that the security personnel including soldiers and the police are giving them a hot chase as I speak with you. So they will certainly not escape.”
Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent, SP, Catherine Anene who confirmed the incident said she was expecting details from Police personnel on ground in Otukpo.
She said, “I have not been able to speak with the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, or any of the officers there but I know there is an incident. I don’t want to be disturbing them so let’s give it sometime.
