Heard About The Milk Crate Challenge or Crate Challenge ?

Most of us have been seeing videos with these hashtags on different social media platforms, but we barely understand what’s going on.

It’s called the Milk Crate challenge or just Crate challenge.

Social media users have been challenging each other to climb steps made of stacked milk crates or beer crates from one end to the top, and down to the other end successfully.

The so-called milk crate challenge involves people daring each other to stack several plastic milk crates or beer crates into a triangle formation and attempt to climb over it to the other end.

The hashtag Milkcratechallenge or Cratechallenge is currently trending on TikTok, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, with people sharing videos of their attempts. But they often end with them falling over and the crates crashing down on top of them.

If you’re not familiar, milk crates are plastic interlocking boxes that are used to transport milk from dairies to retailers.

People are stacking them up towers of up to eight boxes and walking up and down them like stairs.

However, the crates aren’t very stable, which makes the challenge really hard to do without falling.

According to Know Your Meme, the challenge is actually based on a video that went viral a decade ago.

In the clip posted by the YouTube channel JoyRidersTV Bonus Footy on June 23rd 2011, a guy runs across a staircase made of milk crates before falling and injuring his back.

This video clip appears to have inspired Facebook users like Kenneth Waddell and Jordan Browne who were the first known people to do the Milk Crate Challenge in August 2021.

It started off in the United States but it seems other countries are joining in on this latest trend including Nigeria where only Chris Enemoh has won the challenge as at the time of writing this report.

It’s safe to say that some hospital here in Nigeria has been smiling since and waiting to admit patients that will definitely fall while doing the challenge.

It’s a very dangerous challenge and has been advised against by different health and body experts, celebrities and other social media users.
