Maurice Akueme Foundation Health Care Scheme, Achievements And Prospects With NCDC
Health, they say is Wealth. In a bid to ensure the quality health and wellbeing of the citizens of Enugu State, the Maurice Akueme Foundation (M.A.F.) was invited by the representatives of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Health Ethics and Law Consulting and the Resolve to save lives to help in drafting a bill to be passed to the Nigerian Senate in order to become a law.
The meeting which took place at Adig suites Enugu was basically about the initiation of the Enugu State Public Health Security Bill.
The bill which is still in the process of becoming a law is generally on the implementation of the International Health Regulations (I.H.R) into the Nigerian Law and ensuring that the people of the state abides by it.
One of the major factors for establishing the Maurice Akueme Foundation is to give the people hope and a better life, given the giant strides taken by the foundation during the COVID-19 era in which it provided the vulnerables, the indigents, the downtrodden with essential items such as food which ranged from rice to beans to yam to noodles etc, and other medical items such as the distribution of hand sanitizers, face masks, hand gloves, sensitization etc and also the fact that the foundation was able to reach deep into the grassroots were factors considered while seeking to partner with the foundation as a partner while also noting that the foundation established food banks in different strategic areas to provide for the indigents.
According to our correspondent; Mr. Chinaza Madu, this giant step taken by the Maurice Akueme Foundation is another way of proving that the foundation is not only concerned with eradicating poverty in Africa but also giving a great health care to the people.
Once the bill is signed into law, the foundation would be responsible for educating the grassroots on the importance of abiding by the health laws and also the prevention of the spread of diseases.
