Independence Day: FG declares Monday public holiday

Nigeria’s Federal Government Declares Monday Public Holiday for Independence Celebration.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Monday, October 2, 2023, a public holiday to commemorate the Nation’s 63rd independence anniversary.

The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, made the announcement in a statement on Wednesday, September 27, 2023.

The statement read: “The Federal Government has declared Monday, October 2, 2023, a public holiday to commemorate the Nation’s 63rd independence anniversary.

“The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, who made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulated Nigerians on the anniversary and urged them to reflect on the journey of the country so far and work together to build a better future for all.

“The Minister also called on Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for the peace and unity of the country.”

Nigeria gained independence from British rule on October 1, 1960. Independence Day is a national holiday in Nigeria, and it is celebrated with parades, fireworks, and other festivities.
