Southern Nigeria Students Set Congress Committee To Prepare For Election

The need to organize a transparent election and worthwhile convention is sacrosanct

The Southern Nigeria Students Association (ASONIS) has set up a Congress Planning Committee ahead of the Association’s general elections.

The committee is charged with the responsibilities of setting up time table and modalities for electing new leaders.

In a public post made by the leader and maiden President of the Association, Comr. Edeh Elijah Chinedu, he published the lift of ban of election while also listing the leadership and members of the committee. In his bid to enhance an all inclusive Association, Edeh also published the zoning system among the three Senatorial Zones of Southern Nigeria which make up ASONIS.

According to Elijah, “The need to organize a transparent election and worthwhile convention is sacrosanct. The Central Planning Committees are expected to treat all aspirants with equity and fairness”.

In furtherance, the President urged the CPC to plan and conduct the elections within two weeks of the official publication of notice, he also stated that elections will be online while inauguration and handover will be physical congress.

ASONIS is the umbrella body which unites all students in the following Southern States of Nigeria Abia, Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu, Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross-River, Delta, Edo, Rivers, Ekiti, Lagos, Osun, Ondo, Ogun and Oyo.
