The bill, titled “North West Development Commission (Establishment) Bill, 2023,” was introduced by Deputy President of the Senate Jibrin Barau. The legislation marks a crucial step towards realizing a dedicated body focused on fostering growth in the North West region.

Deputy President Barau emphasized that the envisioned commission will play a pivotal role in expediting the development of the commercial and industrial capacities within the North West geopolitical zone. This zone encompasses seven states: Kano, Kaduna, Kebbi, Katsina, Jigawa, Sokoto, and Zamfara.
