Industrialization holds the key for the emancipation of the masses from poverty and hardships. It is widely believed that when the masses in any society are busy in gainful employments, the incidences of strife, youth restiveness and other forms of social ills will take a back seat as everyone will be too busy or too well to do to remember to involve themselves in social ills. After all a hungry man is an angry man.

There was a vegetable oil manufacturing company built for the purpose of producing and marketing vegetable oil in the old Anambra state.

The company was located in Nachi, Udi local government area of present day Enugu state.

The company was doing well initially and we can all remember with nostalgia, their radio and TV adverts which were always in the air. The company was a house hold name.

Possibly the company must have been allowed to fail, and later on it was burnt. The carcass of the company is still visible for all to see.

It is on this ground that A popular philanthropist from Enugu West Senatorial Zone in Enugu State has vowed to revitalize the vegetable oil producing and marketing industry popularly called AVOP.

He said; “AVOP is able to come back to life if I have the background information and probably study the last financials… No kidding.

“I can at least do that for my people”.

In a brief chat with Charity Reporters; Chief Maurice Emeka Akueme stated his intentions to rebuild, revitalize and reignite the one time pride of the east if given every necessary support.

He said it is in his usual way of complimenting the giant strides of the executive governor of Enugu State Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi towards youth employment, job creation, trade and industry.

Akueme noted that plans are underway to fix that industry if given the opportunity and necessary documents for further studies, government support inclusive; Anambra and Enugu states.

He said revitalizing AVOP will not just create employment opportunities for the teeming youths but will also reduce crime rate in the state as employed personnel will be focused on their job in the industry.

He said it will also enhance development and investment.

It will make the state more industrious and also add to its internally generated revenue.

He concluded by saying; Enugu state can be the richest state in Nigeria if industries of such are brought back to life and if individuals and private investors are granted more opportunities.

“If given every necessary support to revitalize AVOP, staff it with honest men and women who are charged with the mandate of repositioning the company and taking a huge chunk of the market share of vegetable oil in Nigeria, Enugu state has the potentials to become the richest state in Africa” he said.

“AVOP is able to come back to life if I have the background info and probably study the last financials”

Akueme’s move to revitalize AVOP will indeed be a great blessing to the people of Enugu state and especially those of Udi local government area if his efforts are not dwarfed.
