Don’t Challenge Soludo’s Victory in Court, Kinsmen Warn Andy Uba

The Aguata kinsmen of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the Anambra State November 6 governorship election, Andy Uba, have warned him to perish the idea of taking the governor-elect, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, to court over the poll.

They stated this under the umbrella of Nzukora Old Aguata Union, adding that the governor-elect should not be distracted by Uba who is Soludo’s kinsman.

Uba had said, “Now that INEC has declared the result and announced the APGA candidate, Professor Charles Chukwuma as winner, I urge that we remain law-abiding. Having met with my team, party hierarchy, etc and analysing data from our field officers, we can boldly state that preliminary check shows that we have grounds to challenge INEC declaration at the tribunal in line with the electoral process.”

But the leader of Uba’s kinsmen, Peter Okala, in a statement on Sunday, urged the APC candidate to perish the litigation idea or face consequences from them.

He said, “We the 45 communities of the Old Aguata Union do hereby call on all the losers to show spirit of sportsmanship as we are disposed to take all necessary steps, both legal, spiritual and otherwise to discourage all manners of distraction because our expectation is high.”

He urged the monarchs in the area to use their good offices to prevail on the losers to sheathe the swords about the election.

While commending INEC for proving to be truly independent, Olala hailed security agents for their resilience and doggedness throughout the period of the election.

He added, “Our commendation also goes to the IPOB for cancellation of the sit-at-home order that gave Ndi Anambra the confidence to come out to participate in the lawful duty.”

Charity Reporters had reported that the All Progressives Grand Alliance candidate, Chukwuma Soludo won the election with 112,229 votes beating Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party who polled 53,807 votes, and Uba of APC who got 43,285 votes. Ifeanyi Ubah of the Young Progressive Party who polled 21,261 votes came fourth.

While Soludo won 19 local government areas, Ozigbo and Ubah won one each. The APC candidate, however, did not win any of the local government areas in the state.

The candidates of the PDP and YPP had since congratulated Soludo but the APC candidate was yet to concede defeat.
