Federal Government Calls for Urgent Meeting with Labour Unions to Avert Nationwide Strike

In a eleventh-hour effort to forestall the planned nationwide strike set for October 3, 2023, the Federal Government has extended an invitation to organised labour for discussions. The Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress had declared an indefinite strike to protest what they perceive as the government’s failure to provide post-subsidy support for workers. The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Productivity is committed to engaging with union leaders before any economic shutdown.
