Ohanaeze Youth Council calls for the immediate removal of Army Chief Buratai, Says it is insensitive and undemocratic.
The National President of Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) Camrade Igboayaka O Igboayaka has warned the Chief of Army staff, General Turkur Buratai to refrain from his threatening statement and possible moves on declaring a State of Emergency in South Eastern Nigeria over recent security breaches that led to killing of harmless and armless Igbo youths at Emene Enugu State, describing the statement as careless and insensitive.
Addressing News men at Abakiliki Ebonyi state on Monday 14th Sept. 2020, the President of the Council regretted that General Turkur Buratai have not suggested state of Emergency in Northern part of the country where thousands of Nigeria security agents have been killed by Boko Haram, Bandits, Fulani herdsmen and Islamic jihadists but a calm and peaceful South Eastern region.
Comrade Igboayaka who alleged that General Buratai’s statement to declare state of Emergency in Eastern Nigeria is a deliberate attempt to declare war against Ndigbo warned that Nigeria is a Democratic state and any plan by the Army to truncate democracy in Nigeria will be strongly resisted.
He further warned that General Buratai jettisons any plan to topple Nigeria Government by such move of declaring a State of Emergency in Eastern Nigeria, like what happened in Mali recently and embrace the democracy of the country since 1999.
Comrade Igboayaka urged the National Assembly to call for the sack of General Buratai immediately over his insensitive, careless and undemocratic statement and plans before he throws the country into unrest.
“With the way General Buratai is going, I sense danger and advice Nigeria State Security Service(SSS) to mount surveillance on him, pending on his immediate removal”
The OYC President pointed out that General Buratai’s method of engaging Boko haram has raised suspicion across quarters in the manner and way thousands of Nigerian soldiers are being killed on daily basis by Boko Haram adding that the only way to save Nigeria from military sabotage and conspiracy is the immediate sack of General Buratai.
Comrade Igboayaka call on interest organizations in Nigeria and eminent Nigerians to join in the call for immediate removal of General Buratai to save Nigeria Democracy and people at large.
Recall, according to news report by DAILYTRUST on 11th September 2020, it was revealed that the military spokesman said that the Nigerian security agencies are no longer safe in Southeastern region.
