Beckham: 1998 World Cup red card still haunts me

David Beckham has revealed that the red card he received at the 1998 World Cup still hurts him. Beckham was sent off for kicking the back of Diego Simeone’s leg during a last-16 match against Argentina. England went on to lose the match on penalties.

In a new Netflix documentary series entitled “Beckham”, Beckham said that the red card was a “devastating” moment for him. He said that he felt like he had let his team and his country down.
