106  Residents Arrested for Violating Sanitation Laws

106 residents arrested….

Teams from the Nasarawa Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources have arrested no fewer than 106 people for violating environmental sanitation laws.

The Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Mr. Abdullahi Suleiman, made this known in a statement on Friday in Lafia.

Suleiman said the arrests were made during a sanitation enforcement exercise carried out in the state capital and other major towns.

He said those arrested were found guilty of various offenses, including indiscriminate dumping of refuse, littering the environment and blocking of drains.

The commissioner warned residents of the state to desist from violating environmental sanitation laws, saying that the government would not hesitate to prosecute offenders.

He said the government was committed to maintaining a clean and healthy environment for all its citizens.
