“Onye Udi Jee Senate Enugu West 2023” Held Her First Physical Meeting
The clamour for an Udi person to represent the entire people of Enugu West Senatorial Zone in the Red Chambers has gathered momentum.
The outcry as well informed the first ever meeting of over 50 persons who have shown passion towards the struggle for an Udi indigene to take over from the former senate president distinguished Senator Ike Ekweremadu.
The jostle for who takes over from the oldest senator in the house has become pertinent at a point when well meaning sons and daughters of Udi have cried out their discrimination for the position.
Sons and Daughters of Udi Local Government Area have cried out their tears. They tendered their appeal to the executive governor of Enugu state Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to project or allow Udi to present a candidate.
According to the founder Hon. Mike CJ Madu(Gburuchi); he said that the struggle is across party lines hence it has to represent clearly the interest of entire Udi.
Speaking forward, he reiterated total support to the executive governor of Enugu state Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. He thanked Ugwuanyi for fulfilling his promises to the good people of Udi on infrastructural development, human capital development and especially the appointment of a good number of Udi sons and daughters; Barr. George Obiozor, Hon Bibian Anekwe, etc.
Gburuchi called on all advocates of “Onye Udi Jee Senate 2023” to remain law abiding and maintain peace while pursuing the course.
He reminded the people of Udi how committed Governor Ugwuanyi is towards restoring and maintaining peace in the state.
He assured them that the peace loving father of ndi Enugu will listen to the cry for a senator from Udi local government area just the same way he did to produce the deputy speaker Rt. Hon. Uche Ugwu from Udi.
It was also gathered that the following persons has represented Enugu West in the Senate excluding an Udi indigene.

Obviously, with the above presentation, it was gathered that no son nor daughter of Udi has tasted the sit in the zone since 1979, then since the creation of Enugu state and even since the restoration of democracy in 1999.
Greater Awgu Cultural Zone has represented nine times where as Agbaja cultural zone just twice without any particularly from Udi Local Government Area.
During the maiden physical meeting of “Onye Udi Jee Senate Enugu West 2023”, it was agreed that the presentation and endorsement of candidates must stop.
In addition, It was also agreed that there will not be any declaration of interests going forward hence the focus is “Onye Udi Jee Senate 2023”.
The meeting which was honored by reputable men and women of various parties including different party chairmen, secretaries and dignitaries of various parties also made their own contributions. They all agreed that the movement is beyond party lines and must be projected as a movement.
It was also agreed that the “ideaology” “Onye Udi Jee Senate Enugu West 2023” must be promoted and projected beyond personal interest or even party affiliation.
Above all, the house specifically agreed that it must secure the position for Udi first which according to the founder is the utmost priority before projecting any credible candidate irrespective of party.
