Paramount Ruler of Ibaa Community Vows to Clamp Down on Oil Bunkering

The Paramount Ruler of Ibaa community in Emuoha Local Government Area of Rivers State, Sunday Jonah Wobodo, has taken a firm stance against oil bunkering activities in his community, declaring that such illicit practices will no longer be tolerated.

Wobodo emphasized that the community cannot afford to continue losing its residents due to the dangers associated with illegal activities like oil bunkering. His declaration comes in the wake of a tragic explosion at an unauthorized oil refining site in Ibaa, which resulted in the loss of at least 18 lives.

He highlighted that despite repeated efforts, including public awareness campaigns and warnings from both himself and the council chairman, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, some individuals persist in engaging in these dangerous activities.

The paramount ruler also underscored Chairman Lloyd’s observations that, despite the presence of security agencies in the area, illegal oil bunkering activities continue to occur without interruption.

Wobodo’s resolute stance reflects a collective determination to curb illicit practices and safeguard the lives and well-being of the community’s residents.
