In a turn of events, Nigeria, in partnership with Benin Republic, has lost its joint bid to host the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2027. Instead, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania have been selected as the joint hosts for the prestigious tournament. This decision was confirmed by reports from AFP.

The setback for Nigeria came after a concerted effort led by the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, who arrived in Egypt on Tuesday accompanied by representatives from the Nigeria Football Federation. Their mission was to present a compelling case for hosting AFCON in 2027.
