Activists Calls For  Release Of The Report Of A Judicial Panel Of  Extrajudicial Killings

Panel Of  Extrajudicial Killings…

A group of human rights activists has called for the release of the report of a judicial panel of inquiry into extrajudicial killings in Anambra State, Nigeria. The panel was set up in 2021 by the state government to investigate allegations of police brutality and extrajudicial killings.

The group, which includes the Civil Liberties Organization (CLO), Amnesty International, and Human Rights Watch, said that the release of the report is long overdue.

“The people of Anambra State have the right to know the truth about the extrajudicial killings that have taken place in their state,” said CLO Executive Director Ibuchukwu Ezike. “The release of the judicial panel of inquiry report is essential for ensuring justice and accountability.”

The group also called on the Anambra State government to implement the recommendations of the report.

“The government has a responsibility to protect the lives of its citizens and to hold those responsible for human rights abuses accountable,” said Ezike. “We urge the government to implement the recommendations of the judicial panel of inquiry report in order to prevent future extrajudicial killings.”

The call by the human rights group for the release of the judicial panel of inquiry report is timely and justified. The people of Anambra State have the right to know the truth about the extrajudicial killings that have taken place in their state. The release of the report is also essential for ensuring justice and accountability.

The Anambra State government should heed the call of the human rights group and release the report without further delay. The government should also implement the recommendations of the report in order to prevent future extrajudicial killings.

The extrajudicial killings in Anambra State are a serious concern. The government has a responsibility to investigate these killings and to hold those responsible accountable. The release of the judicial panel of inquiry report is an important step towards ensuring justice for the victims and their families.

The government should also take steps to prevent future extrajudicial killings. This includes training police officers on human rights and ensuring that they are held accountable for their actions. The government should also work to build trust between the police and the community so that people feel comfortable reporting crimes without fear of being retaliated against.
