PDP Government Would Create State Police To Tackle Insecurity – Okowa

The governor of Delta State Ifeanyi Okowa is convinced that Nigeria’s insecurity problem will be solved by the establishment of a State Police.

He made the statement at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria’s (ICAN) annual conference on Wednesday in Abuja.

Many Nigerians, according to the vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), believe that the establishment would lower the crime rate.

Okowa bemoaned the fact that the Federal Government’s lack of interest in the matter had harmed the populace.

The governor promised that a PDP-led government will give states the authority to manage their own police system.

He was cited by NAN saying that indigenes will secure the safety of people and property in their communities and reduce crime.

“State Police would help in the effective enforcement of anti-open-grazing law in the states,” Okowa added.

He affirmed that the PDP would encourage power devolution to the states for better development in the country.

Okowa expressed that this would attract and stimulate investment in states across the six regions.
