The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has successfully apprehended Chukwudi Ezirike, a notorious ‘one chance’ kingpin, known for instilling fear along the Kubwa/Zuba highway. The term ‘one chance’ is commonly used in Nigeria to describe a robbery tactic wherein criminals pick up unsuspecting passengers, only to rob or defraud them.

One of the recent victims of such an incident, Greatness Olorunfemi, had aspirations of pursuing a PhD in Microbiology in the United States before her untimely demise at the hands of these criminals.

Addressing the media at the command’s headquarters, FCT Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba, disclosed that Ezirike’s operational vehicle, a blue Golf 3 car bearing Reg. No. KWL 536 RZ, was also successfully recovered. He further highlighted a recurring feature of such crimes, noting that many of the vehicles used had tinted windows.

During a police search, an assortment of weapons including an axe, a cutlass, and a knife, suspected to be tools employed in criminal activities, were discovered within these vehicles. Additionally, three suspects linked to these incidents are currently under investigation.

Garba stated, “On October 11, 2023, acting on credible intelligence, police operatives from Byazhin Division trailed and arrested one Chukwudi Ernest Ezirike, a wanted ‘one-chance’ kingpin terrorizing Kubwa/Zuba expressway.”

The successful apprehension of Ezirike represents a significant milestone in enhancing the security of the Kubwa/Zuba highway, alleviating the anxieties of commuters who have been adversely affected by these criminal activities.
