Amnesty International has brought to light a concerning issue: 15 individuals who participated in the #EndSARS protests are still held in detention within Lagos prisons, even three years after the pivotal movement.

The #EndSARS protests, which took place in October 2020, were a watershed moment in Nigeria’s history. Citizens rallied against police brutality, particularly condemning the notorious Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), and demanded an end to such human rights violations.

While significant strides have been made in response to the protesters’ demands, the prolonged detention of these individuals raises questions about the justice system’s handling of their cases.

Amnesty International, a renowned human rights organization, has called for a thorough review of these cases, urging authorities to expedite the legal proceedings and ensure fair trials for all detainees.

The continued detention of these individuals not only raises concerns about potential human rights violations but also highlights the need for a more efficient and transparent judicial process.
