Alleged IPOB Sub-Group Leader, Members Declared Wanted

Some suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) are now being looked for.

The Police named some of the IPOB members who have been declared wanted.

They are Iloegbunam Alex Chukwuemeka, Tochukwu Ibe, Chinonso Chimezie, Okafor Chidi, among others.

According to a statement by the police,

“The Enugu State Police Command has declared Iloegbunam Alex Chukwuemeka and three others wanted.

“Iloegbunam Alex Chukwuemeka, the sub-group leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), Enugu State, was declared wanted with three others, namely Tochukwu Ibe ‘m’ 29 years, Chinonso Chimezie ‘m’ 31 years and Okafor Chidi ‘m’ 24 years who are still at large.

“The sub-group leader Iloegbunam Alex Chukwuemeka and his accomplices attacked the Enugu State Broadcasting Service, erected Biafra flags in all public places in an attempt to make a broadcast and to overthrow the government of Enugu State.

“It was the timely intervention of the Nigerian army, Nigeria police, and other security agencies that saved the situation.

“Some of his sub-group members were arrested while Iloegbunam Alex Chukwuemeka, Tochukwu Ibe, Chinoso Chimezie, and Okafor Chidi, escaped.

“I want to use this opportunity to beg the people of Enugu State and Nigerians to know that Iloegbunam Alex Chukwuemeka, and three others of the proscribed IPOB, has been declared wanted.

“I’m begging the good people of Enugu State and Nigerians, that wherever they find Iloegbunam Alex Chukwuemeka and three others mentioned above should report to the nearest police station for possible arrest and prosecution”.

A source reliably confirmed that Iloegbunam mobilized and led a “Free Nnamdi Kanu” peaceful protest by the Indigenous People of Biafra in Enugu early March, where security operatives teargased and shot at the armless protesters. The police and 82 division of the Nigerian Army were yet to make a statement in rebuttal of the claim that they carried out the operation as at the time of filing this report.

Recall that many members of IPOB fled from Abia to other neighboring South Eastern states of Imo, Enugu, Anambra, Ebonyi after the Nigerian Army invaded the home of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu on 14th September, 2017. Days after, President Muhammadu Buhari proscribed the group.
