Adesina Affirms Corruption as a Global Issue, Advocates for Transparency

Dr. Akinwuni Adesina, the President of the African Development Bank, has emphasized that corruption is not limited to Africa but is a global phenomenon. He conveyed this message in a statement released to the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja.

Adesina pointed out that the global financial crisis of 2008, which had far-reaching consequences, did not originate in Africa. He attributed the crisis to factors like greed, corruption, and fraud within the financial industry, primarily in Europe, rather than Africa.

The key, according to Adesina, lies in the ongoing enhancement of transparency, accountability, and the responsible utilization of public resources. This approach serves as a fundamental means to combat corruption, regardless of its presence.

Dr. Akinwuni Adesina’s assertion regarding the global nature of corruption highlights the need for a collective effort to combat this issue. By emphasizing transparency, accountability, and responsible resource management, nations can make significant strides in addressing corruption. The example of Eritrea further underscores the potential for nations to achieve commendable progress in this endeavor.
