State Assembly Clarifies Stand on Deputy Governor’s Impeachment Process

Ondo State Assembly Affirms Continuation of Deputy Governor’s Impeachment Process

The Ondo State House of Assembly has issued a statement clarifying the status of the impeachment process against the deputy governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa. Contrary to earlier reports, the House maintains that the process has not been suspended.

Mr. Olatunji Oshati, Chairman of the House Committee on Information, stated that the House initially paused the impeachment process in light of the state Chief Judge’s communication expressing his inability to form a panel for investigation due to a court order. The House emphasized its commitment to accountability and respect for judicial processes.

The House, represented by lawyer Mr. Femi Emodamori, reiterated its position that the impeachment process has not been suspended. They asserted their intent to pursue the process to its conclusion, emphasizing that impeachment is a constitutionally defined procedure.
