Sokoto mobilise workers for nationwide strike action (NLC,TUC)

 Hamisu Hussaini the state secretary of the labour union , told our correspondent on Saturday, that workers in the state have been mobilised for the action.

Hussaini who spoke on behalf of the state chairman of the union, Abdullahi Aliyu Jungle, said the NLC in conjunction with the TUC in the state is ready for the strike action.

He said his members is set for the strike once the memo is received from the national headquarters of the union in Abuja.

Meanwhile, the secretary of the NLC had disclosed that the union leaders in the state had a meeting with some of the bank managers in the state to demand total compliance from them on the proposed strike.

We have informed all our affiliates across the state to get set for the action in addition to the monitoring team set up by the union to go round and monitor events in all the offices across the state” he affirmed

Reacting to the development, the assistant secretary of National Union of Transport Workers in the state who simply identified himself as Labaran said his members still expect directive from the national headquarters for the strike.

We visited some of the bank yesterday including Polaris bank where we told the manager that the strike will be monitored by a special monitoring team and he assured us that once a memo is received by the bank, they will have no choice than to join us
